There is a notch at 3H or Crown position. so it is very important to find this notch before put the watch dial to movement. it is a orientation to tell the position for crown. Mostly time the notch at 3H, some movements would be at 4H or 3.8H or 4.5H. depend on the watch design. Normally the watch dial feet are in same proportion as the crown position. it means if you put the crown at 4H, then the dial feet position also to be adjusted in same direction or angle. to make sure it fits the movement holes. Usually once find the notch to crown postion, it is easy to put the dial feet to the movement. if can't, it means the dial feet in wrong poisition. When the dial fits the movement, next step is to lock the feet on movement, below video, we use the screws. it is common way for most Mechanical movement nowadays. for ETA movements, some still use the old hook to lock the movement. in this case, the feet diameter is very imporant. need to produce exactly same as movement drawing or samples. as if it is thinner, it can't hook tightly for dial feet. it happened before. Screw them tightly to make sure no shaking. this step connects the watch hands assembly, which is more complicated procedure than this one. Please see below video.
